BOOOOO to YOUUUU

One of my besties sent me this great pack of stickers a few weeks ago and I just cound not wait to jump in and use them! At first I wasntr sure what to do with them but I wanted to do something cause they are so darn cute. Then it hit me! Make her a B-day card with one! Her birthday was on the 13th of this month so I have already sent it out. I wanted to make it looked a little haggared and distessed and a little spookily fun. I layered up a bunch of cardstock with sanded edges and use some gauze and velum. The placed Mr Frank front and center. Added some ribbon and tulle and a glitter button. I am really happy with how it turned out :D

Trick or Treat

Hello! Have you missed me? I took the whole month of September off! It was a nice break to hang out with my husband & the kids and get ready for winter. We have all started to try and predict when we will get our first snow fall. I say Oct 25th. I guess we will wait and see! The leaves are almost all out of the trees and in my gutters lol. I plan on putting up my Christmas lights soon so I will clean them out then. For this weeks project I was back and forth on what to do. I had at first had a great idea I planned to use from a wreath I had seen over on Splitcoaststampers back in August. But that idea was seen by another popular blogger and caught fire so there was tons of people making this style of wreath. I just couldnt bring myself to make it after that. So I sat and sulked for awhile until I got this brilliant idea. Back in July I hosted a baby shower for my sister. I made tissue paper flowers for it and I thought 'hummmmmm I bet I could make a bunch of these flowers and glue them down onto a circle and make a wreath!' Thats just what I did. I dug through my tissue paper stash and pulled out the Halloween colors I wanted and as they say....the rest was history. Take a look to see how I did it below....

I wanted to make a somewhat circle so I used the ole string and pencil trick (it looks like a toilet seat)

Gathered up my tissue paper and cut it into rectangles

After layering the tissue I folded it accordion style then tied it in the center

Trimed the ends into a point then unfolded them

Started pulling the paper up one layer at a time

Until you are all done with the layers and then glue them to your toilet seat I mean paper ring

I cut out some spooky shapes on my Cricut using the Post It craft paper that I peeled the back off and glittered the sticky side

I made the words 'Trick or Treat' on my Gypsy using Blackletter and glittered them as well and wrapped the weath with green Fun Fur yarn and a purple ribbon

Spooooooooky

I hope you guys are all having a wonderful week out there. I know I have been! I was in helping with Allis class a few times this last week and filled an order for cards. I dont think I have ever told you guys before but I sell my cards I make. Its been alot of fun! So with all that going on I really had to focus myself to get my project done for this week. Our fall is here. The trees are turning yellow. The grass is going dormant and just this morning it was 37 degrees out at 8am. We were also lucky because my dad got a caribou last Saturday and I always help process the meat. For my hard work I get a share of the meat so I was able to put a little in the freezer, YAY! This coming weekend my son and husband go up to hunt for our caribou. Oh oops kinda got off subject there. So anyways yah for this project I was excited to get a start on my Halloween decorating...

I picked out some fun but spooooooky colors

Cut out my banner pieces. Went with the triangle.

Got out my wonderful Martha Stewart score board and made some rosettes

Got out silver and black glitter and added some sparkle

*super secret here* I will pick up sample paint cards at the store when I know I need a small piece of a color that I am sure I dont have. So for the letters I picked up these samples :D

The letters all cut out to say 'SPOOKY'

Started putting it all together. The wisker looking things are pieces of tissue paper that I added that, when it gets a slight breeze, flutter. I put up my banner near a heater vent and when the heat comes on it gives the banner some silent movement, almost like a floating ghost :D

I ran the black through my Sizzix. cant really see it in the other pics

Finished banner hung up :D

Gold Fever

Hello everyone! I have been so busy this last month! It was nice to finally get back home and get a project going. In the past month we...went gold mining at Cache Creek, fishing in Kenai, bought a 2nd 4 wheeler, went on a porker run on the 4 wheelers, drove to Valdez, picked salmonberries, picked blueberries, stayed in Valdez for 16 days, fished in Valdez, attended Valdez Gold Rush Days, went on a historic homes of Valdez walking tour, drove home, got the kids ready for school made salmonberry jelly and finally sent the kids back to school! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh and I am sure there are things in there I forgot lol. So when asked to make a project with the theme of 'What I did on my summer vacation' I had lots of things to chose from. But I picked one and ran with it.

Picked out the paper. All this paper is from my K&Co super stack

Created my own paper gold pan

Printed out 3 fun pictures from gold mining and added 'gold' to my pan

Cut out some blue and gold glittery words, stars and circles from a piece of DCWV cardstock

Added in a few strips of polka dotty paper and called it good as gold ;)

I Found My Style

Good morning everyone! As I take a break to type this out I have spent my morning packing for our busy week. Starting tomorrow I will be gone for almost 2 weeks. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon to go up on a friends gold claim for 3 days. Then when we get back we will unpack and then repack and leave the next morning for the Kenai River to go get our yearly supply of salmon. Then we get back take 2 day breather and then repack for camping with our family doing a 4 wheeler fun run. AHHHHHHHH sounds crazy but we love this time of year! So on with my project. I have always been asked what my crafting style was. And honestly I never really knew myself. I would just usually browse sites looking for ideas untilI felt inspired and then create. That was until I founf my style recently. It was like what they tell you when you buy a house, when you find it you will just know. I would like to announce I have found my style LOL!! It seems to come to easily and naturaly to me to create in this style. And my style is....Shabby Chic or Vintage Chic or whatever its called. I have always loved vintage styles. You will find me on most days listening to big band music while I craft and I collect alot of vintage items. My fav era is WWII, the early 1940's. So when we were asked to create a Christmas in July project I thought "What is the first thing I think of when I think of July and Christmas?" July was red, white and blue. Christmas was Santa. I put the 2 together and set out to search for a great pic of a vintage patriotic Santa. I found a vintage music sheet and put them all together you can see the result below! ~*Jen*~
